Adult Coed Volleyball Rules

Monday, September 11, 2023 8:56:07 AM MARION ADULT CO-ED VOLLEYBALL RULES *Games will be played at the SAC. No tobacco or drinking is permitted anywhere in the building. Court shoes only will be permitted on the gym floor. *Teams must play with a minimum of 4 players and no more than 6. Players present shall be played alternately (male/female) on the court. *Team receiving the ball for service rotates clockwise on possession. Team listed first will determine the servicing team for the first game. *If there is more than one hit on a side before the ball goes over the net, one of the hitters MUST BE A FEMALE. *After the ball has been served, the receiving team may play the ball three times on their side of the net. The ball must go over the third hit. No one is allowed to strike the ball twice in succession unless it is a blocked ball. *Rally scoring will be used. Official games are 25 points for the 1st and 2nd games, 15 points *for the 3rd game, if needed. A team must win by 2 points. *A server must not touch the ceiling or other player and it must pass inside the antennas. *It is a violation if a person scoops, lifts, or pushes the ball. *It is a violation if a person touches the net with any part of his body while the ball is in play. *The losing team serves first in the second game. The opponents then rotate for the first serve. The team that loses the second game serves first, if the third game is needed. *Blocking or attacking the serve is not allowed. *Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Each participant must sign their team waiver before playing. *A team shall be on the court ready to play at the designated time. If not ready, that team shall forfeit the first game. A player from another team may be “picked up” so that both teams may play, but it will still result in a forfeit. *Warm up should be completed before the scheduled game time. *All calls are based on honor system! Please be honest when making calls.
